Animal Kingdom's Tropical Americas Update: Aladar's Farewell & Encanto's Progress (2026)

The beloved Aladar and DINOSAUR attraction are bidding farewell, but the excitement for the upcoming Tropical Americas is building! A recent aerial update from @bioreconstruct on X reveals the final moments of this iconic dinosaur and the entrance to the DINOSAUR ride, as we know it.

One Last Ride on DINOSAUR:
This week marks the end of an era as DINOSAUR prepares to close its doors, making way for an Indiana Jones-themed attraction. February 1st will be the last day to experience this thrilling ride, with wait times already soaring. The aerial photos showcase Aladar, the Iguanodon, standing tall at the attraction's entrance, a sight fans will cherish before its potential disappearance in future updates.

Tropical Americas Takes Shape:
In the former DinoLand area, construction is progressing. The aerial view reveals utility conduits being installed for the upcoming carousel, once The Boneyard. This carousel will be a highlight of the Pueblo Esperanza village, adorned with wooden carvings of beloved Disney animal characters. The site buzzes with activity as dirt is moved, and concrete forms outline the future walls and foundations. The remaining structures from The Boneyard will soon be transformed into Tropical Americas.

Encanto Show Building Progress:
Across the pathway, the Encanto show building is taking shape. Roofing materials are being added, and while it's currently a bare frame, it will eventually feature a charming Casita façade. The ride will immerse guests in the world of the film, offering an expanded narrative experience.

Bonus Aerial Footage:
bioreconstruct's aerial video provides a comprehensive look at the construction site, including a sentimental glimpse of Aladar at the DINOSAUR attraction, which will soon be a memory. The photographer also captured the rapid progress of Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios, formerly Muppets Courtyard.

A Bittersweet Transition:
As DinoLand U.S.A. makes way for Tropical Americas, emotions are mixed. Are you feeling nostalgic about the loss of DinoLand, or are you eagerly anticipating the new adventures that Tropical Americas will bring? Share your thoughts and join the conversation on social media!
